About Me:
Currently working at a university in the UK - but miss the Berg a lot. First Berg hike was from Mnweni (Rockeries) to Mont Aux Sources with a mate from school (we were 14 at the time). That big adventure led to more than 50 berg trips since. Best times were in the 1980s when we also did a lot of climbing (Bell 12 times in a year - including twice in a day, Tooth, Mpjonjwave 4 or 5 times, Western Triplet, Column, Pyramid, Cowl and so on). Although I've been away from SA for too long, I still average a berg trip a year since I headed to the UK. Last trip was when we got unceremoniously spat out of a greasy & wet Hilton pass in the summer - which led to a longish detour round Corner pass.
I've never done the GT. Much respect to those who can race that distance! Best I did was from Durban up the Bell and back in 24 hrs - but that was a while back now and a totally different ball game.
