Running the Dragons Back higher and longer

Ever since trying the traverse solo a year ago, there has been a nagging feeling that I should one day finish it off.

The weather for this weekend looks pretty good, so I will be giving it a crack, solo. Start at 4am on Friday. No significant change in strategy, except that I have now 'survived' several attempts/training runs so far, so I know by now what to expect and hence have my mind in the right mindspace.

The attempt with Bruce in Feb should be much quicker, due to a better knowlegde of what to expect on day 2, and of course the simple fact that 2 people should be faster. So, will keep it low key for now, with the bigger one to come soon.

March could be cold, but the weather will probably be better, so that evens out. For me, personally, daylight is the key factor. It is just not possible to go 6km/hr in the dark on flat ground without a path. For a slower attempt, that is not such an issue, so I would still consider March highly suitable.

Hi Andrew
My plans for the 7th seem to have fallen flat, I will attempt it the weekend after (14th) or wait until Spring. What do you thing of March, too cold?.

Go go go! I'm loving this revival of berg record enthusiasm :-) Back in the day there used to be an annual race - right now it looks like we're having monthly ones...

Hi Andrew, we will drive up on the 6th and sleep in the bunk house. 4am start on the 7th. Our attrition rate is high as 4 people have pulled out due to injury etc. So now it is just 4 others on the hill.
