Running the Dragons Back higher and longer

Hi All.

We are an AR team and are probably going to give it a go.

Couple of questions if someone is willing to answer:

-Is April too cold (1-10th)
-Safety. Does one carry a sat phone? Also, if there is a problem what is the protocol for rescue?

Thanks a million!

Brilliant!
Thanks for the info.
We are 3 boys and 2 girls. (age variation 40,40,36,33,28)
In terms of strategy...history dictates that this will be constructed during an evening involving much red wine and bravado. In reality, I suspect our emphasis will be on enjoying the experience and trying to complete it.

Actually, if memory serves, it's more of a sort of cat litter tray than a pile, except somewhat buried and without the cat. At least, I didn't see a cat.

April can get chilly at night with sub-zero temperatures a frequent occurence... but as long as you avoid a cold front, the weather should be fairly stable. I've had bad luck with cold fronts in April though! My major issue is the compromise on daylight hours.

An ordinary cellphone will get you reception for most of the berg if you get up to a summit at the escarpment edge. I reckon you're probably within 10km of signal at any point along the route we've been taking. Obviously the sat phone would be better but I wouldn't bother if you don't already own one :-) The number to call for mountain rescue is 0800005133 and I'd recommend sending regular update SMSes of your location to someone you know (get them to post in on the blog!) - the mountain rescue register you fill in at the Sentinel Toll gate seems to disappear into a pile which never gets checked - so don't rely on them to realise that something is up...

So, how many of you are there? Strategy?, etc... :-)
